The Overberg Loop
Nine days across coastal mountains, fynbos plateaus, and rural farm trails — our longest route, built for mixed groups and custom departures.
The route
A route worth
booking a flight for.
The Overberg Loop is our longest route, built for groups that want more time, more variety, and a genuinely different feel each day. It runs year-round and works just as well as a mixed-ability custom departure as it does as a scheduled trip.
Nine days, eight lodges, and a route that crosses coastal mountains, protected fynbos, working farms, and Africa's southernmost point — without ever repeating itself.
Day by day
The itinerary
Airport transfer to our Hermanus base. A relaxed coastal shakedown ride, route briefing and gear check over dinner.
A forgiving opening day on smooth coastal singletrack through protected fynbos. A good day to settle into the rhythm of the trip.
The classic Elgin day — cool, grippy soil and long machine-built descents through working apple and pear orchards.
Village rest day with an optional 25 km easy spin through the farmlands. Relaxed lunch in town.
A proper mountain day — the kind of ride the Overberg quietly specialises in. Broad plateaus, long climbs, and a descent into Genadendal.
A flatter but fully exposed coastal day finishing at the fishing village of Arniston.
Africa's southernmost point. A short loop, a long lunch, and the only photograph you really need from the trip.
Private farm access on purpose-built trail — some of the most underrated riding in the Cape.
A final morning back to Hermanus for a long farewell lunch. Afternoon transfers to Cape Town airport.
