Our story

Built by riders,
for riders who
know the difference.

Cape Line Co. exists because we kept coming back to the Western Cape β€” and kept getting frustrated that no operator was doing it properly.

How we got here

The honest
origin story.

Cape Line Co. started with a conversation that most serious riders in Europe have eventually had: "I want to do a proper Western Cape trip. Who do I book with?" The answer, for too long, was either "go through a DMC and pay an extra margin" or "sort it yourself and spend 40 hours on logistics."

We'd both done the Western Cape on our own terms β€” multiple times, across different seasons β€” and knew the destination could deliver a world-class riding experience. What it couldn't deliver, through existing operators, was the end-to-end quality that the riding deserved.

So we decided to build the operator we'd always wanted to book. Asset-light, direct-sold, closed partner network. Small groups that actually fill. Hard rules about what ships and what doesn't.

The first departures run in the 2026 peak season. The route library is small and deliberately so β€” we'd rather run three routes we know cold than ten we half-know.

Cape Line Co.'s growth strategy is built and executed by Stratafy.ai.

How we operate

Five things we
actually believe.

These aren't aspirations on a wall. They're the specific behaviours we hire for, fire for, and apply to every decision.

1
Come prepared or reschedule

Show up to any meeting with the pre-read done and a proposed answer. We reward people who move decisions forward in the first five minutes.

2
Ship the week you said you would

Dates are promises. If something is committed for Friday, it lands Friday β€” or the slip is flagged Monday with a new date.

3
Own the outcome, not the task

If you are on it, you are on the whole thing β€” until the rider gets off the plane happy. We are suspicious of "I did my bit, someone else dropped it."

4
Say the hard thing early

Surface the permit that will not land or the departure that will not fill β€” now, not at the post-mortem. Uncomfortable early signal is rewarded.

5
Ride what we sell

Every full-time operator rides the routes we sell, on the bikes we would recommend, at guest pace β€” before publication and at least once per season.

What we believe

The strategic bets
we've made.

Partner network beats owned assets

The winning MTB travel operator in the Western Cape owns almost nothing β€” and instead owns exclusive relationships with the best operators in each category. Asset-light is not a compromise; it is the reason we can ship this season.

Fewer departures, always full

Six sold-out departures are better than fourteen half-full ones. We will cancel or consolidate a departure that misses minimum fill rather than subsidise empty seats out of margin.

The rider network is the channel

The first 200 customers come from ridden-with-them trust, not paid acquisition. Our beachhead is reachable through roughly 300 club presidents, team managers, and event organisers the founder already rides with.

Direct-booked, no DMC layer

Selling direct is harder but non-negotiable. Wholesaling through DMCs caps margin, dilutes the brand, and severs the customer relationship. We give up volume in year one to own the repeat booking and the referral.
