The Winelands Ridge
Six days through vineyard trails, mountain passes, and fynbos singletrack of the Western Cape's most celebrated riding terrain.
The route
A route worth
booking a flight for.
The Winelands Ridge is our flagship route β the one we built first, ride most, and recommend without hesitation. It strings together the best singletrack in the Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Elgin valleys into a point-to-point journey that no day trip can replicate.
You'll climb through vineyard estates on smooth machine-built trail, drop into river gorges on technical natural singletrack, and finish each evening at a handpicked lodge with a view that makes you want to do it all again tomorrow.
Day by day
The itinerary
Airport transfer to our Stellenbosch base lodge. After lunch and bike fit, a relaxed 18 km shakedown ride on the Jonkershoek Valley trails to get your legs under you. Route briefing over dinner, gear check with the mechanic, early night.
The centrepiece of the route. A full-day traverse of Stellenbosch Mountain on the Webersburg and Coetzenburg trails, finishing with the long descent into Franschhoek.
A more forgiving day β mostly fast, flowy vineyard trail through the valley floor β that earns its keep with two short technical climbs and a sustained descent that draws cheers every time.
A scheduled rest day in Franschhoek. Optional 25 km easy spin for those who want it; full rest for those who don't.
The longest day, and many riders' favourite. Elgin's climate produces cooler air and wetter soil, which means the kind of grip you forget exists after a Cape summer.
A final morning ride β all descent, all reward β finishing at a winery for a late lunch. Transfer to Cape Town for afternoon/evening departures.
